A rider was found murdered and his body abandoned in a maize plantation in Turbo, Uasin Gishu County.

Police said Sammy Kamau, 25, was strangled with a binding wire that was found around his neck on Wednesday morning.

The body was discovered in a maize plantation in the Emirates area of Kilimani location, with a helmet recovered beside it.

A witness reported seeing a person riding a motorcycle suspected to have been stolen from the deceased, followed closely by another motorcycle leaving the scene.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations. Police advised victims of such incidents to always cooperate with attackers.

Elsewhere, police in Kitui County are investigating the death of a Grade Two pupil from Wiitu Primary School in Ikutha.

The eight-year-old girl was found lying in a thicket and rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police said the body had no visible injuries and was later taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Meru County, police are probing the death of Alex Muthee, 24, whose body was found at the Laare Health Centre compound.

Police said he had multiple injuries on his legs, head, and hands, suggesting he was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the facility.

The motive of the murder was not immediately established.

And in Luanda, Vihiga County, Fredrick Ambali, 45, was found dead in his house after a suspected assault.

Police said the deceased had injuries on the chest, jaw, and hands, with blood stains at the scene. It was later established that he had been attacked by his 20-year-old son following a dispute over the sale of his gumboots.

The suspect, a secondary school student, was arrested and a panga believed to have been used in the attack was recovered.

The body was moved to the mortuary for postmortem as police sought custodial orders against the suspect.
