Woman found murdered in lodging in Fuata Nyayo slums, Nairobi

Detectives are investigating the murder of a woman whose body was found in a lodging long after her murder in Mukuru Fuata Nyayo area, Nairobi on Monday.

The woman identified as Farhia Ahmed was found with injuries on the back of the head, and blood was oozing from her nose after her murder.

Her assailant who had checked into the room with her the previous night was missing. He had escaped, police said.

According to the management of the facility, the couple paid Sh400 to access and occupy the room on Sunday night.

On Monday morning, the caretaker of the facility said she realised the room was partially open.

She went in and stumbled on the lifeless body of the woman on the bed, with blood oozing from the nose.

She raised an alarm and informed the police, who visited the scene and confirmed the woman had died.

Police said they are looking for a known suspect in the murder probe.

The team that visited the scene said they had not established the motive of the murder. It is not clear the time the suspect escaped.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Cases of murder of women have been on the rise, prompting the government to form a team to investigate the trend and its causes. The team is yet to complete their study and table the report.

And mystery surrounds the fatal shooting of a motorcycle rider whose body was found on the roadside along Saru-Sabarei Road in Dukana, Marsabit county.

Police said the incident happened on Sunday in Tarbe Sora Gira area and involved one Yattani Jora, 37.

The motive of the attack was not immediately established. The body had multiple bullet wounds in the head, hand, back and thigh.

When police arrived at the scene hours later, because it happened almost 20 kilometres away from the nearest police station, they found the man still in his helmet and the sheep he was carrying still tied to the motorcycle.

Police said nothing was stolen from the deceased man, and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Hindi, Lamu county, a man died after he was hit by a stone on the head.

Police said Abdi Khalif Adow, 65, was fatally hit in the head by a suspect who was arrested hours later.

This followed an altercation near a mosque in the area.

It is not clear what prompted the attack.

Police rescued the suspect from a mob that wanted to lynch him and took him into custody for further grilling ahead of planned arraignment.
