The Fake poster/EACC

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has dismissed as fake a poster circulating online that was attributed to its Chief Executive Officer, Abdi Mohamud.

The poster, which carried Mohamud’s photograph and the branding of a local media outlet, contained statements suggesting that governors chanting “TUTAM” believed it would shield them from corruption cases.

It also claimed that President William Ruto had declared war on corruption and that “16 files are ready for investigations.”

"Governors chanting TUTAM thinks that will save them from corruption cases. The president has declared war on corruption and 16 files are ready for investigations. - ABDI MOHAMUD," the wordings contained in the poster.

In a swift response, the anti-graft body urged the public to ignore the message. “THIS IS FAKE!” the Commission said in a statement, clarifying that the words did not originate from the EACC boss.

The agency stressed that the fabricated poster was misleading and meant to create the impression that it was an official statement from the CEO.

EACC further warned against the circulation of unverified information and assured the public that any official communication would be released through its verified platforms.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to the fight against corruption, but emphasized that the remarks making rounds online were not from Mohamud.
