The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has announced that both the National and County Government entities have seven days left to apply for the new generation reflective number plates.

According to a notice by NTSA, the exercise targets all government vehicles, with the deadline for compliance set for August 29.

“The Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service directed your organisation to apply and fit new generation reflective plates on your vehicles,” the notice reads.

The directive follows instructions from the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, who called on all government organisations to transition to the new plates.

The application process is to be carried out online.

NTSA advised the institutions to log in to their accounts and complete the process ahead of the deadline.

For additional support, inquiries should be sent to the official email address, [email protected].

Officials have emphasised the urgency of meeting the set timelines as the reminder clearly states, “7 days to go.”

NTSA further put a reminder boldly marked in red, saying, “29th August is the deadline.”

The new reflective plates are part of the government’s efforts to enhance security and improve vehicle identification on Kenyan roads.

By issuing uniform and modernised plates, authorities aim to make it easier to trace vehicles involved in crime, fraud or traffic violations.

The government has recently intensified its push for compliance with the rollout of digital plates.

NTSA has already phased in the process for individual motorists, with government fleets now expected to lead by example.

The notice is expected to put pressure on agencies to speed up the application process to avoid last-minute challenges.

Government drivers and transport officers are urged to act immediately to ensure their vehicles meet the requirements.

With only a week left, all National and County Government entities are now under strict instructions to comply.
