Detectives are investigating the murder of a 13-year-old girl whose body was discovered on a farm in the Olkalau area, Nyandarua County.

The girl had been missing for hours before her body was found on Wednesday afternoon. She had been sent to a shop on Tuesday evening but failed to return home.

Police said the body was discovered in a bush with multiple injuries, including on the head. It was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy to establish if she had been assaulted. No arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck the same county when a 57-year-old bishop of a protestant church died after being trapped by debris from a building under construction in Heni area on Tuesday evening.

The deceased, identified as Bishop Johana Kibue of HM Israel Church, was carrying out construction works at the church with his two children when the structure collapsed.

Police said Kibue, who also owned the church, was acting as the mason at the time. His children escaped unhurt.

Locals, with the help of police, retrieved his body from the rubble. It was taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and further investigations.

Police and Nyandarua County officials visited the scene on Wednesday as investigations continued.
