Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba is mourning the death of his mother, Mama Agatha Maina Namwamba, who passed away on Thursday, August 7, 2025.
In a statement shared on his social media handles on August 7, Ababu confirmed that Mama Agatha died at 12:30pm, Thursday.
He described her as the matriarch of the Namwamba family and a pillar of strength to her children and the larger community.
“With profound sadness and a deep sense of loss, the Peter and Agatha Namwamba family regrets to announce the demise of our Matriarch, Mama Agatha Maina Namwamba,” the statement read.
The family has appointed Prof. Thomas Nanyingi Namwamba as the official spokesperson during this mourning period.
They have requested privacy, prayers, and calm as they grieve their beloved mother.
