Public Service CS Geoffrey Ruku has told off the opposition for discrediting Deputy President Kithure Kindiki-led economic empowerment forums.
Speaking in Kolowa, Tiaty Constituency, Ruku said the opposition is just jealous that the empowerment programme is successful.
He went on to say that instead of trying to sabotage the programme by spreading propaganda and hatred, the opposition should instead focus on finding an agenda that they will sell to the people of Kenya.
The CS warned that the government knows all the games the opposition is playing, trying to politicise the empowerment programmes, but Kenyans are cleverer than they think.
“For those who are jealous because of the way the empowerment programme is doing a good job for different women and youth groups across the Republic of Kenya, we are asking you to please go find an agenda which the people of Kenya can buy instead of preaching propaganda and hatred. Sit down and find a plan for Kenyans,” Ruku said.
“You ask people to go on TV to discredit this programme. We have seen such kind of games in the past, they don’t sell, they don’t fly, they don’t go anywhere. The people of Kenya are clever. The empowerment programme is very well calculated, and it is led by a professor, not just anyone,” Ruku said.
His remarks come after a video of a group of women claiming to have been shortchanged after attending an event by the Deputy President went viral.
The Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Porgrammes CS insisted that all empowerment programmes by the government that are being spearheaded by the DP will continue and will reach all parts of the country.
Ruku added that President William Ruto and his administration have a plan for Kenyans across all sectors, including health, education and the economy, among others.
Ruku spoke as he led a food and relief support distribution exercise in Kolowa. He noted that the government has intensified drought interventions through the construction of irrigation projects, small dams, earth dams, boreholes, and water pans to provide water solutions to communities in ASALs
The Cabinet Secretary was accompanied by Members of Parliament William Kamket (Tiaty), Jematiah Sergon (CWR, Baringo) and Titus Lotee (Kacheliba), among other community leaders.
