
A
nine-year-old boy was found murdered and his body abandoned at their compound
in a village in Dudi, Kakamega county.
Police
said the boy had been assaulted by a well-known man on Saturday and
succumbed to the injuries in Mudowera village.
The
deceased had visible injuries on the back and was strangled, preliminary investigations
showed.
Police
traced and arrested the suspect for grilling and arraignment as the body was
moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
The motive
of the incident is yet to be revealed.
Meanwhile,
police in Yala, Siaya, are investigating an incident where a Ugandan woman died
after complaining of stomach pain.
The woman
had taken her supper before she complained of pain and collapsed.
She died
minutes later. Police collected samples of the food she ate for analysis as
part of the probe into the death.
In another incident, a man
died in the hospital after he had been assaulted by an assailant known to him
in Maara, Tharaka County.
Police
said Kelvin Karani was assaulted on July 13 in the area and taken to the hospital,
where he succumbed six days later.
Police
said they were looking for the suspected assailant for grilling and possible
arraignment.
The body
was preserved at a local mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.
Elsewhere
in Sulwe village, Siaya County, a man was stoned to death on the claim that he is a
thief in the town.
Police said the suspect, identified as Hilary Odhiambo, 45, was lynched after he
had been flushed from his house in a dramatic event.
Police
arrived at the scene long after he had died on Saturday, July 19.
The body
was moved to the mortuary as police condemned the incident, saying they are
investigating it to take action.
Cases of
mob lynching have been on the rise amid calls to address the trend.
Police
discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for
action.
There is a campaign to address the menace, with the cases rising to at least three daily, police say.
