A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the killing of his 57-year-old father in a land dispute in Gelegele village, Sotik, Bomet County.
The
body of Benjamin Maritim, 57, was found lying on the Gorgor-Gelegele road at Kenegut village after the incident.
Police said the body was found in a pool of blood at the entrance
to his farm from the main road.
The body had multiple visible deep cut injuries inflicted on
it on the head by a sharp object.
The suspect, who is believed to be his son, was later
arrested in the area over the incident.
Police said they are investigating claims the two had
differed over land issues.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and
investigations.
The murder incident is among at least eight that were
reported on July 18 alone.
At Dadaab’s Ifo refugee camp, the body of a man was found lying
in a thicket along Haujubei-Daghaley Road after a murder.
Police said they were yet to identify the man. The body was
moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and identification.
In Rubate, Tharaka Nithi County, the body of one Peter
Muchangi, 40, was found along Mbukoni-Maabi Road.
Police said the body had head and chest injuries.
The motive of the murder and those behind the same are yet to
be known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
In Matunda, Kakamega County, the body of a bodaboda rider was
found on the roadside after his murder.
The man was identified as Gideon Musamia, and his body had
deep cuts in the eye and neck, police said.
His motorcycle was missing, giving an indication the
assailants were targeting it.
Police moved the body to the mortuary pending investigations
and autopsy.
In Sirisia, Bungoma County, a man was stoned to death after claims he had killed his mother in Bisunu village.
Police said they found the body of Edwin Wanjala, 38, in a
pool of blood long after he had been killed.
Locals claimed he killed his mother, identified as Jane
Wanjala Kavani, on July 12 in the area.
The body of the man was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy
and investigations.
Police discourage mob lynching and want suspects to be
surrendered to authorities for processing.
And in Thiba, Kirinyaga County, a group of bodaboda riders
lynched two suspected thieves in a dramatic incident.
Police arrived at the scene and collected the bodies minutes
later.
Police said the move was criminal and that they are
investigating the same.
In Mutomo, Kitui County, a juvenile was hacked to death as he
grazed animals in Kitui Game Reserve near Thangilani.
Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the
attack.
The villagers visited the scene and collected the body of the
17-year-old boy for burial.
Police are investigating the murder.
