Detectives are investigating
separate murder incidents involving two Ugandan women in Busia and Kakamega
counties.
Police stated that the incidents are unrelated and are pursuing strong leads on the assailants.
One of the victims was a teenage girl.
The first incident happened in the
Amagoro area, Busia County, where the body of a woman was found. The body was
discovered long after she had been killed.
It was found by the roadside with an
injury on the left side of the head, suspected to have been caused by a blunt
object.
The body was discovered on Monday,
July 14, and moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.
In the Mahiyakalo area, Kakamega
County, another Ugandan woman was found murdered. Police said the woman, identified
as Violet Achieng, was found dead on her mattress long after she had been
strangled.
The assailant escaped the scene
after the murder on Sunday night. The house where the body was found had been
locked from the outside.
Police broke in to remove the body, which was
taken to the mortuary pending autopsy and the arrest of the suspect behind the
murder. The motive of the murder is yet to be established.
Detectives handling the cases said
they are unrelated and expressed hope of apprehending the assailants soon.
In Khayega, Kakamega County, a man
was slashed and killed in an attack. The motive behind the July 14 incident is
still unknown, police said.
Two suspects were later arrested in
connection with the murder, and the body was taken to the mortuary for autopsy,
according to police.
The suspects were expected in court,
where police were to seek permission to continue holding them for a week as
investigations proceed.
In Nunguni, Makueni, one Peter Waema
Kombo, 56, was killed by a person known to him. His body was found lying in a
deep trench with visible injuries on the head and right hand.
A suspect behind the murder was attacked and
killed by a mob minutes later. Police said both bodies were moved to the
mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.
