

A fire has broken out at the Embakasi Girls' School in Mukuru, Nairobi county.
The incident that occurred on Sunday morning was confirmed by the Kenya Red Cross.
Efforts to contain the fire are ongoing and no casualties have been reported so far.
"Fire at Embakasi Girls’ School, Nairobi County. Efforts to contain it are underway," Kenya Red Cross said.
Preliminary reports indicate that one of the dormitories caught fire on Sunday morning.
Response teams from the Nairobi Fire Brigade, the Red Cross Action Team, and the Community-Based Response Team are at the scene.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino in a statement said that he was saddened by the incident, which he described as devastating.
He noted that it has caused significant damage to property at the school.
“We are deeply saddened to learn about the devastating fire at Embakasi Girls High School, Embakasi South constituency, which has caused significant damage to property and learning environment,” he said.
The legislator added that he stands in solidarity with the schools’ community as they begin their recovery journey.
“In this difficult time, please know that our thoughts are
with the students, teachers, staff, and families affected by this unfortunate
incident. While the loss is great, we stand in full solidarity with the school
community as they begin the journey of recovery and rebuilding. Tragedies like
this remind us of the strength of unity and support,” Babu added.
