Police probe four suicide cases in different counties

All cases are currently classified as Persons Under Investigation (PSU).

Suicide
Police in three different counties are investigating suspected suicide incidents reported on June 27, 2025.

In Nandi, a 19-year-old boy was found dead in their house by his brother.

The deceased is suspected to have hanged himself with a rope on one of the roofing rails of the house.

Officers, accompanied by DCI, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found the deceased's lifeless body lying on the floor with a rope around the neck and a piece of the same rope at one of the roofing rails of the house.

“His body was moved to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting autopsy,” the officers said.

Elsewhere in Baringo, the body of an 85-year-old man was found dangling on a rooftop, having died by suicide using a sisal rope.

The deceased's body was discovered after her daughter realised he was not at home, and during their search, they found his lifeless body with a sisal rope around his neck and a ladder beside him.

The scene was processed by the OCS from Sacho and his team.

The body was later taken to the Baringo County Referral Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

In another incident, a 32-year-old female who was unwell is said to have died by suicide by taking poison.

She was rushed to Tenges Health Centre, then referred to Baringo County Referral Hospital and placed under the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

However, she succumbed while undergoing treatment, and her body was moved to the morgue in the same facility.

Meanwhile, Kisumu County also reported a suicide incident.

A 16-year-old boy is suspected to have died by suicide in a house after his family had experienced some family wrangles.

The incident is said to have been reported by the assistant Chief of Kamayoga sublocation in Katho location.

Police officers rushed to the scene and established that his body was there with no visible physical injuries.

“His body was removed from the scene and taken to Otho Private mortuary awaiting postmortem,” officers noted.

All cases are currently classified as "PUI" (Persons Under Investigation), with DCI teams in Nandi North, Sacho, and Rabuor handling the ongoing investigations.
