Owalo reaffirmed the Kenya Kwanza government’s commitment to delivering transformative development across the region.
Speaking during the tour, Owalo, who also serves as Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Delivery and Government Efficiency, described the projects as "a clear demonstration of the government’s unwavering commitment to delivering real, measurable impact for the people of Nyamira county."
The day-long exercise began with a courtesy call to county commissioner Erastus Mbui and brought together top government officials, including the county secretary Jack Magara, engineers from the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), and officers from the Government Delivery Unit.
The first stop was the Kebirigo–Gesima–Mosobeti–Metamaywa road, a 12.3km stretch now fully upgraded to bitumen standards for Sh
574 million.
Owalo noted the road is 100 per cent complete and already improving mobility and connectivity in the region.
The delegation also visited the Nyansiongo modern market, a Sh195 million project spearheaded by the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.
The market, which is 98 per cent complete, is expected to boost local commerce and economic activity once commissioned.
In Borabu constituency, attention shifted to a road upgrade project covering 60.1km at Sh 3.4 billion.
“Supervised by KeRRA, the project is expected to open up rural areas and spur economic development,’’ Owalo said.
Healthcare infrastructure was also under review at Keroka level IV hospital, where a modern Accident and Emergency block is under
construction at Sh400 million.
The facility includes two theatre rooms, maternity and general wards, and a mortuary, and is being implemented in collaboration with the Kenya Defence Forces.
The team further inspected the Gekano–Nyangori–Ringoma–Moturmesi–Birongo road in Kitutu Masaba, where 33.3km of roads are being upgraded for Sh1.2 billion, as well as the Kemera–Kiendege–Gachuba–Keumbu road (12km) valued at Sh 577 million.
On the education front, Owalo reported progress on various
infrastructure projects across schools in the county, including new dormitories,
dining halls, classrooms, and administrative blocks costing Sh1.4 billion under
the State Department for Basic Education.
The tour concluded at the Nyamira County Aggregation and Industrial Park in Sironga, a flagship Sh750 million agro-industrial venture co-funded by the county government and the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry.
“The project, currently at 30% completion, is expected to become a key driver of value addition and job creation in the region,’’ said Owalo.
Owalo reiterated the government's focus on efficient service
delivery, saying, “We are here to ensure that every shilling spent on
development reaches the people and transforms lives. Nyamira is on the growth path, and these projects are proof that the government is working for the
people.”
