A multi-agency team in Busia has intercepted a lorry carrying suspected contraband ethanol hidden under sacks of wheat bran.
According to a police report, the Busia Patrol Team (SPIV) stopped the white Isuzu lorry at Malaba Township. The vehicle was headed to Bungoma.
Police said the driver abandoned the lorry and fled after being flagged down, leaving the engine running.
The team towed the lorry to the station.
A search revealed 32 drums, each suspected to contain 250 litres of ethanol. The drums were covered by 52 and a half white sacks of suspected wheat bran.
The scene was processed by the CSI team, documented, and booked. The case is pending under DCI Teso North.
