Saika: 21-year-old found with toy gun and knife arrested

Police recovered toy pistol, rope, knife and gloves from suspect's bag during patrol.

A 21-year-old man was arrested on the night of June 9, 2025, for preparation to commit a felony and found in possession of a toy pistol, among other suspicious items.

According to police, officers from the Obama Police Station were on foot patrol around Saika Junction at approximately 8:25 pm when members of the public alerted them about a group of suspicious boys in the area.

The patrol team, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), responded swiftly and managed to arrest one suspect.

Upon searching him, police recovered a red bag with stripes. Inside the bag were: A black toy pistol masked with black tape, a black toy pocket phone, make IP TEC, model GT-1, a black rope, two pairs of gloves, black and white and a knife.

The suspect was escorted to the Obama Police Station. All exhibits were placed in safe custody.

The case is pending before the court. The Station Police Commander (STAPOL) at the Obama Police Station is handling the matter.

In another incident, police in Magutuni, Maara Sub-county, arrested a wanted drug peddler in possession of narcotic drugs and weapons.

The suspect, aged 35, was arrested on June 9, 2025, at around 1:00 pm at his homestead near Magutuni Shopping Centre.

According to police, officers from Magutuni Police Station, acting on a tip-off from a member of the public, laid an ambush led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).

The team apprehended the suspect for being in possession of approximately 2.5 kilograms of a substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The drugs were reportedly being transported on a red 150cc Tiger motorcycle.

A further search of the suspect’s house led to the recovery of additional items, including three arrows in an arrow pouch and four rubber bullets. All items were marked and kept as exhibits.

The OCS Magutuni is handling the matter.
