National Police Service (NPS) officers from Bungoma West
Subcounty have arrested a woman and seized 154 rolls of cannabis sativa after
a successful raid in Nabuloli Village.
The raid was an act on a tip-off from members of the public targeting the homestead of the suspect.
The suspect is in custody at Sirisia Police Station, awaiting arraignment at Sirisia Law Courts.
The recovered drugs are now being held as evidence while police prepare to take further legal action.
NPS praised the public for their role in the operation, stressing that community involvement is crucial in the fight against drug-related crime.
“We laud members of the public who continue to support our efforts by providing information that led to this successful arrest and recovery,” NPS stated.
Authorities are urging residents to continue reporting suspicious activities through available anonymous tip-off channels.
The Bungoma arrest follows a similar operation on June 2, 2025, in Kisumu county, where police seized a significant haul of cannabis sativa after a successful raid in Alendu Village.
The operation was led by officers from Rabuor Police Station, who acted on a tip-off from vigilant community members.
During the search, officers found three large sacks of cannabis, each filled with multiple rolls of the illegal substance.
The NPS emphasised its commitment to intelligence-led operations, promising to intensify efforts to dismantle drug networks across the region.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance stance on narcotics and will continue similar crackdowns across the country,” a police spokesperson said.
Elsewhere on May 17 in Nairobi’s Karen area, where police arrested two men with 40 kilogrammes of cannabis and recovered 203 rolls of bhang, 100 packets of razzlers, Sh1,400 in cash, and a rolling flag.
These actions are part of a broader, multi-agency nationwide crackdown on illicit alcohol and drugs, launched by the government in response to rising public health and security concerns tied to the illegal production, distribution, and consumption of narcotics and illicit brews.
