Three suspects were arrested on Monday, 9 June, after being found in possession of 50kg of cannabis sativa (bhang), 30 hash-infused cookies, and 810 rolls of bhang.
The arrests occurred during an anti-narcotics operation conducted by officers from the National Police Service (NPS) in the Kasarani area of Nairobi.
The suspects are currently in police custody and are awaiting arraignment in court.
“The suspects are currently in police custody, awaiting arraignment in court,” the NPS confirmed in a statement posted on X.
The recovered items are being held as evidence at the same facility.
Meanwhile, in Bungoma West subcounty, police arrested a woman and seized 154 rolls of cannabis sativa following a successful raid in Nabuloli Village.
The operation was carried out based on a tip-off from members of the public, targeting the suspect’s homestead.
The woman is being held at Sirisia Police Station and is set to be arraigned at the Sirisia Law Courts. The seized drugs are being preserved as evidence while police prepare to take further legal action.
This arrest in Bungoma follows a similar operation conducted on 2 June 2025 in Kisumu County, where officers seized a substantial quantity of cannabis sativa during a raid in Alendu Village.
The operation was led by officers from Rabuor Police Station, who also acted on intelligence provided by vigilant community members.
During the search, police discovered three large sacks containing numerous rolls of cannabis.
The NPS has reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling drug networks through sustained, intelligence-led operations and continued collaboration with the public, aiming to protect communities from the harmful effects of drug abuse and trafficking.
These operations form part of a broader, multi-agency nationwide crackdown on illicit drugs and alcohol, initiated by the government in response to growing public health and security concerns linked to the illegal production, distribution, and consumption of narcotics and illicit brews.
