President William Ruto has received letters of credence from newly appointed ambassadors to Kenya at the State House, Nairobi.

The letter of credence is presented personally by the ambassador-designate to the receiving head of state in a formal ceremony, marking the beginning of the ambassadorship.

"Received credentials from newly-assigned five High Commissioners and an Ambassador to Kenya," he said.

Ruto noted that his administration will continue to strengthen diplomatic footprints in order to achieve our mutual interests.

"We will keep growing and strengthening our diplomatic footprints across the globe in pursuit of our mutual interest, benefit and prosperity," he said. 

The President congratulated and conveyed his best wishes to the diplomats in their service, by "fostering the bond of friendship and promoting to the widest possible extent within the law the aspirations of the peoples of our nations".

The new diplomats are Chiranjib Sarker of Bangladesh, retired Lt. General Peter Kakowou Lavahun (Sierra Leone), Ernest Rwamucyo (Rwanda), Anthony Louis Kon (South Sudan), Kan Yaw Kiong (Singapore), and Erika Álvarez Rodríguez (Dominican Republic).

This is the second such ceremony the President has held this year, as on January 14, Ruto received a letter of credence from the Ambassador-designate of China to Kenya, GUO Haiyan.
