In Summary
In his bid to make police stations and other service areas
centres of excellence, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Kenya Police
Service), Eliud Lagat continued to tour the field to check on the police’s
working environment.
He made an impromptu visit to Busia and Ugunja
Police Stations.
Lagat emphasised mental health and financial management and
urged the officers to desist from corrupt practices and to take decisive action
against crimes, including human trafficking, illicit brews, and drugs.
“Your mental health is key to performance at large. Always
be keen on it. Also, manage your finances well,” he said.
Lagat said the mental status of police officers has a huge
impact on society, hence the need to caution.
“Always be alert. Know the triggers and address them. Police
officers also need to help each other in identifying these threats to address
them in time.”
He directed the officers to always execute their mandate
within the confines of the law and police regulations.
He inspected various sections of the stations and noted areas requiring improvement to enhance service delivery.
During this impactful visit, the DIG-KPS was accompanied by
Busia County Police Commander, Ahmed Abdille, and Siaya County Police
Commander, Serah Koki, among other senior officers.
Meanwhile, police intensified the war on illicit brew and
conducted a targeted operation in the Kibera area in Nairobi region as part of their
ongoing efforts to eradicate the business
During the operation, officers recovered approximately 2,000
litres of kangara and 350 litres of chang’aa.
Police said the operation is part of a broader nationwide
crackdown on the production, distribution, and sale of illegal alcoholic
beverages, which pose serious health and social risks to the public.
In Kisii, a multi-agency team comprising police officers
from Magena Police Station and National Government Administration Officers
(NGAO) conducted a successful raid in Riokari Village, Magena Sub-Location,
Kisii County.
During the operation, 1,300 litres of chang’aa and brewing
apparatus were recovered at a homestead.
However, the owner managed to evade arrest.
