Police in Loiyangalani have arrested two suspects believed to be behind the murder of a man earlier in the day in Moite Village.

In an intelligence-led operation, officers from Loiyangalani Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), apprehended a 31-year-old Kisii male and a 20-year-old Turkana male.

The two are suspected of killing Lekekinoi Jesire Leparsanti and fleeing the scene.

They were nabbed in Kara Lager, within Moite Village, as they allegedly attempted to escape to Kalakol.

According to police, the suspects are currently being held in custody and are expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow to face murder charges.

The Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO) of Loiyangalani is leading the investigations.

Elsewhere, a 50-year-old man died on Sunday evening after falling from a tree while harvesting honey in Rwaitugu Village, Kiambere Ward, Mbeere South Sub-County.

The deceased, identified as Euticus Mwangangi Mbungu, reportedly fell from a fig tree approximately 50 feet high, where a beehive was located.

The tragic incident occurred during a honey harvesting expedition alongside Silas Njeru Katiti, who later reported the matter to police.

Officers from Mutuobare Police Post visited the scene and found the body of the victim lying beneath the tree with visible head injuries.

The body was moved to Embu Level Five Hospital Mortuary pending a post-mortem examination.

The case is under police investigation and has been classified as a Person Under Investigation (PUI).
