At least six suspects were arrested, and assorted stolen mobile phones recovered from them in an operation in Nairobi.
Police said they also recovered Sh614,000 from the suspects, which they believe are proceeds of the crime.
The recovered mobile phones were stolen from separate parts of the city and were valued at Sh3 million, Nairobi Regional Police Commander George Sedah said.
He added they are looking for more suspects in connection with the crime.

He addressed the press at his office on Saturday while flanked by other senior police officers, including the regional head of DCI, Benson Kasyoki.
“They usually configure some of the mobile phones and sell them elsewhere. We advise against buying stolen devices,” he said.
Most of the thieves behind the trend operate on motorcycles, he said. Police advised those whose gadgets are stolen to always report the cases.

Police say some of the stolen gadgets are usually tampered with and resold to unsuspecting buyers. Others are sold to neighboring countries for use.
Police have in the past arrested and charged some suspects with serious offenses like robbery with violence and murder in such operations.
This was after it emerged the gadgets were violently robbed from the owners, some of which led to deaths or serious injuries.
The operation is ongoing.
