Deputy President Kithure Kindiki will today continue with his development tour.
The deputy president will tour three counties.
Kindiki will be visiting Nyandarua, Nyeri and Meru counties to inspect various projects and later preside over empowerment meetings.
His tour will begin at Ndaragwa where he scheduled to inspect the construction works at the Ndaragwa market before heading to Kiawara in Kieni West, Nyeri County for an empowerment event for small scale traders SACCOs.
He will thereafter attend a similar event at Naromoru town before concluding with an inspection of construction works at Kamachege Market in Imenti South Constituency, Meru County.
Rhino Charge 2025
Ahead of this year’s Rhino Charge event scheduled for May 31, the EV Explorers team will today conduct a testing session of its electric vehicle that will compete in the event.
The zero-emissions electric vehicle, made in Kenya, was first unveiled in April this year.
Rhino Ark is a charitable trust established in 1988 to respond to the grave threat facing Kenya’s Black Rhino population in the Aberdare ecosystem.
Originally formed to help the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) finance a protective fence around the Aberdare’s Eastern Salient, Rhino Ark’s mission evolved into constructing a 400-kilometre electric fence encircling the entire Aberdare Conservation Area.
Completed in 2009 and formally commissioned in 2010 by the late President Mwai Kibaki, the fence has successfully curbed poaching, safeguarded wildlife, and reduced human-wildlife conflict with neighbouring farming communities.
Hearing in Obado murder trial proceeds today
The hearing of the murder case against former Migori Governor Okoth Obado proceeds today at the High Court in Nairobi.
Obado’s co-accused and former personal assistant, Michael Oyamo, will conclude his testimony today before he is cross-examined by the prosecution.
Oyamo testified for the whole of Thursday, admitting that he met Sharon Otieno at a hotel in Rongo, Migori county, moments before she was abducted and eventually murdered.
