PS State Department of Irrigation Ephantus Kimotho

I'm good at.......................  Team leading. I'm a good team leader. I focus on any assignment that I'm given and I'm able to bring a team together to focus on assignments.

I'm very bad at...................... I lose patience with people who are not focused.

The last book I enjoyed reading..............The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey. It is about effectiveness.

A common misconception of me is............... That I'm soft but I'm very firm.

The most surprising thing that happened to me is......... Being given the job as PS for Forestry. I am a finance expert so I thought I'd go somewhere else.

I got to love it and it is one of the best things that ever happened to me cause now I'm in love with nature because of that.

I wish people would take more notice of........ What I'm currently doing, my focus and compare our state department where it was before I joined and where it is after I've joined.

I have motivated the team that is working behind me, I have made people know irrigation and its importance and I know with these, we are going somewhere as a country.

My ideal night out is................ Just chilling out with friends over a cup of drinks.

In moments of weakness I.................. I take a walk alone and reflect.

In another life, I would have been............ A chief finance officer somewhere approving vouchers.

The best age to be is....................... 35 years old. At that point, you still have the opportunity to rectify any mistakes you might have made.

At 40, maybe it's a bit too late. At 35, you can still take risks and if they don't work out, at 40 you can change strategies and do more risk-averse issues.

In a nutshell, what is your philosophy..................... Invest in people and you will be happy.

If I was to die in five minutes, my last words would be..... I would appeal to my family to take on the dream that I have started. I would appeal to all my friends to emulate and just to live by what I believed in to touch future generations.

Ephantus Kimotho is the Principal Secretary, the State Department of Irrigation.
