Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti has called for public participation to deliberate on whether the county should not ban Muguka.
Speaking during a church service in Machakos on Sunday, she noted that muguka has proven to be a menace in society as many youths have been severely affected.
"Mimi nakuja kuweka public participation ya muguka because I cannot ban muguka on my own. Lazima tufanye public participation na nyinyi tukubaliane mniambie vile mnataka," she said.
"Hizi drugs zimeharibu watoto wetu. You know that if every church can talk to the youth we will make a difference."
She added that that is the reason why she is coming up with Machakos Youth Service to train and rehabilitate those affected.
Governor Wavinya's call follows a nationwide call from a section of Kenyans to permanently stop the sale and consumption of muguka.
The ban on muguka was first announced by Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir who highlighted the availability and high consumption of the stimulant drug in the county as being a major challenge.
Kilifi county also quickly imposed the same with Kwale county imposing heavy taxes to curb the sale and consumption.
Mining CS Salim Mvurya on Saturday called for a national dialogue for a proper solution to regulating muguka.
He said the drug is wreaking havoc on many youth's lives in the coastal region hence the need to have it regulated.
The CS added that he fully supports the coastal governors on measures taken to regulate muguka.
