Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago was on Friday heckled as his motorcade snaked through the streets of Eldoret.
His appearance in the town a day after he was released on bond in Finland and Canada Education programme case by a Nakuru court coincided with the closure of the devolution conference in the town.
Crowds had filled the streets of Eldoret town as motorcades of leaders led by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua left the Eldoret Sports Club, the venue of the 10th Devolution Conference which the DP had just officially closed.
Mandago emerged from his car's sunroof and started waving at the crowd but the people responded with boos and heckling while some made hand gestures for him to go away.
As the shouting grew louder, the senator made a hand gesture and then got back into the car.
On Thursday, the senator was granted Sh2 million bond or Sh500,000 cash bail by a Nakuru magistrate's court over accusations of conspiracy to steal over Sh1.1 billion shillings in the botched Finland Education programme.
The funds were contributed by parents for the footing of tuition fees for their children's study in Finland and Canada.
Mandago was charged alongside two county officials; Meshack Rono and Joshua Kipkemboi.
They denied all the 10 counts of conspiracy to steal, theft, abuse of office, and forgery charges.
Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ndege ordered them not to interfere with witnesses and appear in court in person whenever summoned.
The magistrate further warned the trio that their bond terms would be cancelled if any of them failed to adhere to the instructions.
