Police are investigating the suspected murder of a China national found in a hotel room in Lavington, Nairobi.

According to police, the body of Zhou Yadi was found dead in the bathroom with a piece of cloth tied around his neck.

Yadi worked as a manager at a construction company building the Lamu-Garissa highway.

He had traveled to Nairobi for official duties and was in his room when he was allegedly attacked by unknown people. Preliminary reports indicate that he was strangled.

Those who visited the scene said it was messy and there were signs of struggle therein which probably lead to the murder.

The incident occurred on Saturday. Police were called to the scene at about 8pm long after the incident had happened.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police said no arrest has been made and they are yet to establish the motive of the murder.

According to the staff at the hotel the deceased had been booked to the room alone.

Elsewhere in Industrial Area, four Chinese nationals were attacked and robbed of Sh800,000 and other valuables.

The victims told police they were at a godown where they also stay and were taking their super when a gang of about eight stormed and demanded for money and other valuables.

The victims suspect the gang was aware of the presence of the cash in the room as they demanded for it as they ransacked the structure.

Three of the victims were injured as they tried to resist the Sunday evening incident. Police said they have launched a manhunt for the suspects.

The police are also looking for suspects who raided a shop along Juja road, Nairobi, and robbed the attendant Sh300,000 before escaping.

The suspects were armed with a pistol and fired once in the air as they escaped.

Police said no one was injured and a review of the cctv footage captured shows that one of the attackers was a former employee at the facility.

A spent cartridge was recovered at the scene.
