Embu town residents have accused muguka transporters of illegally packaging their produce on estates during curfew hours.

Residents expressed worry and annoyance, saying the transporters of the stimulant were exposing them to dangers, including crime.

Embu County Neighbourhood Association officials, led by Patrick Muiruri, Peter Mwangi, Lucy Mwangi and  Martin Mwanzia, said the transporters package and load the stimulant into lorries and other vehicles during curfew hours.

“The transporters have been exposing us to dangers, including the coronavirus, since they transport the stimulant to hotspot areas daily. They also put us at risk of insecurity as thieves take advantage of their presence at night to attack us,” Muiruri said.

They also litter the area when sorting and packaging muguka.

Residents urged the county and national governments to move transporters away from residential areas.
