The first wife of former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana, Violet, died on Tuesday while undergoing dialysis at the Coptic Hospital.

She had been at the facility for one month.

Deputy President William Ruto paid his condolences to the family on Twitter, referring to Violet as a devoted family woman.

“Condolences to family and friends of former Garsen MP Danson Mungatana following the death of his wife, Violet Mungatana. She was a devoted family woman; kind and welcoming, who stood out for her generosity and warm heart. Rest In Peace,” he tweeted.

Kenyans on Twitter offered their condolences as well.

Moses Kwalia‏ said, “May God grant the family sufficient Grace to overcome the grieving.”

“May she rest in eternal peace and may the family be strengthened, in Jesus' name,” Buyinga Andrew‏ tweeted.

Mungatana, popularly known as “the Crocodile Eater” was Garsen MP between 2002-2013, elected on Narc and Narc-Kenya tickets respectively.

He also served as an assistant minister in various dockets, among them Medical Services and Justice and Constitutional Affairs
