A petitioner wants

Judiciary's Chief Registrar Anne Amadi removed for allegedly abusing her authority.

Joseph Njuguna said Amadi did this in issuing a directive for the government printer to publish notices announcing vacancies for the positions of CJ, DCJ and Supreme Court judge.

He filed the petition at the Judicial Service Commission on Tuesday.

Njuguna

also said an affidavit sworn by Amadi, in a case where former Justices Kalpana Rawal and Philip Tunoi were challenging their retirement, was false.

In her capacity as Chief Registrar and JSC secretary, Amadi is said to have implicated Supreme Court judge Njoki Ndung'u in the case.

The JSC withdrew two paragraphs of the alleged affidavit.

"She brought disrepute, disgrace and dishonour to her oath of office by purporting to swear a false affidavit at the Supreme Court," Njuguna said.

He said Amadi also showed inability to perform the functions of her office with honesty and integrity.

Njuguna wants the JSC to determine whether it is proper to keep an officer who acted in breach of its code of conduct and ethics for judicial officers.

He said Amadi should

be investigated by a disciplinary panel for allegedly using the registrar's office to advance private interests.

"She has consistently acted with scant regard to the rule of law [and is] bringing disrepute not just to herself but to the entire judiciary," said the petitioner.
