The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) on Friday staged a purple ribbon march through Nairobi's Central Business District to honour two of its members, advocates Edward Kariuki and Esther Keige, whose deaths have sparked calls for justice.
The procession began at the Milimani Law Courts in the morning before making its way through the city centre to the Supreme Court.
Lawyers wore purple ribbons as a symbol of remembrance and solidarity during the peaceful march.
The procession, which wound its way through several the Nairobi CBD, was led by LSK President Charles Kanjama.
Also present were Senior Counsel Martha Karua, former presidential candidate George Wajackoyah, and several civil society activists.
The march drew attention from members of the public within the city centre as some of the participants walked while carrying placards and chanting slogans calling for accountability.
The LSK has maintained that the march was intended to honour the memory of the two advocates while reaffirming the legal profession's commitment to justice and the protection of the rule of law.
