President William Ruto continued his official visit to Norway on Tuesday with a series of engagements aimed at strengthening economic and investment ties between Kenya and the Nordic nation.

Upon arrival at Oslo Gardermoen Airport, the President and First Lady Rachel Ruto were received by Norwegian officials, including Norway's Ambassador to Kenya, Siv Cathrine Moe.

The visit is part of a broader European tour focused on expanding trade, attracting investment and deepening bilateral cooperation in key sectors of the economy.

Among the President's notable engagements in Oslo was a meeting with Andreas Waage Enger, the President of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association and Chief Executive Officer of Höegh Autoliners.

The Norwegian Shipowners' Association is one of the world's most influential maritime organizations, representing shipping and offshore companies that operate globally.

The discussions centered on opportunities for cooperation between Kenya and Norway in the maritime sector, with particular attention on shipping, port logistics, maritime services and the blue economy.

Kenya has been seeking to expand investment in ocean-based industries and strengthen its position as a regional logistics and trade hub, while Norway is recognized internationally for its expertise in shipping, maritime technology and sustainable ocean industries.

The meeting formed part of Kenya's efforts to attract foreign direct investment and forge partnerships that can support economic growth, job creation and infrastructure development.

It also comes as Nairobi seeks to leverage its strategic location along the Indian Ocean to unlock opportunities in maritime transport and related industries.

Ruto's visit to Oslo also includes engagements with Norwegian leaders and participation in the Kenya, Norway Business Forum, where government officials, investors and business leaders from both countries are exploring opportunities for collaboration in renewable energy, climate-smart development, electric mobility and other sectors with strong potential for future growth.
