[PHOTOS] Family, friends gather for burial of Kiptum's coach

The family and friends of Kelvin Kiptum's coach Gervais Hakizimana gathered for the requiem mass ahead of his burial on Wednesday.

The funeral service was held at Kabuga Catholic Church.

He will be laid to rest at Rusororo cemetery.

He died on February 11, 2024, alongside Kiptum.

Sports CS Ababu Namwamba among other leaders attended his requiem mass in Rwanda.

Hakizimana made a significant impact on Rwandan athletics as an athlete and as a coach.

One of his notable achievements was discovering and grooming Kiptum, who went on to set a new world marathon record in October 2023.
