President William Ruto has commissioned the Nandi Poultry Processing Plant at Emgwen in Nandi County.

The plant is expected to handle more than 5,000 birds a day and employ at least 500 people.

"The large-scale value addition that we are pursuing will ensure that our poultry farmers sustainably produce more to support more livelihoods in the country," he said.

The President is on a development tour in Nandi, where he has commissioned a couple of projects.

Among the projects launched are the Jitume ICT Laboratory at Kaiboi National Polytechnic and Tinderet Integrated Technical and Trainers College.

He also took part in the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of affordable housing in Kapsabet town.
