Nyamira senator candidate Adams Mochenwa has urged elected leaders to be consistent and deliver on their pre-election promises.
He said the electorate entrust leaders with offices and afterwards they disappear only to return a few months to the election, seeking to be re-elected.
“All our people want is service, not empty promises. We want leaders who are capable of performing what they have promised, not those leaders we entrust offices with, then they disappear only to reappear during elections,” Mochenwa said.
He spoke on Wednesday in Nyamira town where he urged voters to be careful about who they elect now that every politician is promising development.
Mochenwa faulted some leaders whom he said were given leadership opportunities but never delivered on the expectations of the electorate.
The politician said such leaders should not be entrusted with public offices.
“We need to learn from what we have experienced from a section of leaders whom we entrusted offices. Most of these leaders have never been back to society to perform what we elected them for, but you can now see them around giving promises on how they will perform once we elect them. Let us be careful,” Mochenwa warned.
He will face former Senator Mong’are Okong’o (Ford Kenya), incumbent Senator Okong’o Omogeni (ODM), former assembly legal officer Jared Sagwe (Wiper) and US-based businessman Alvin Machoka (UPIA) in next month's race.
Mochenwa is running on the Democratic Party ticket.
He urged residents to ensure whoever they elect as leaders should have demonstrated their ability to work for them before.
