Eldas MP Adan Keynan has praised leaders from Northeastern Kenya for standing together during Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s recent tour of the region, describing their united front as a strong show of support for the government’s development agenda.
Speaking on Monday, Keynan, who chairs the Northern Kenya Parliamentary Group, said leaders and residents have no apologies to make for their political position.
He stressed that their support for President William Ruto is anchored in trust, experience, and tangible progress witnessed in the region.
“Our united presence in Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera counties stands as a clear signal of renewed commitment to work hand-in-hand with the government of the day in redesigning our development trajectory and unlocking a future of shared prosperity for the entire region,” Keynan said.
He added that President Ruto’s administration had demonstrated goodwill through investment in infrastructure, education, security, and economic empowerment in Northern Kenya.
“As leaders, we had every reason to accompany the Deputy President throughout his tour. It was a clear show of unity and commitment to the Kenya Kwanza administration,” he said.
Over the weekend, Kindiki toured parts of all three counties, presiding over empowerment fundraisers and outlining new projects aimed at transforming livelihoods.
Keynan noted that such initiatives reaffirm the region’s central role in the national development agenda.
“These efforts are part of a broader plan to strengthen economic empowerment and foster inclusive growth. They underscore the importance of partnering with the national government, expanding collaborations, and creating opportunities that uplift livelihoods while accelerating socio-economic progress,” he said.
While addressing residents in Modogashe, Garissa County, the Deputy President assured that the government would ensure equitable distribution of resources and development projects across the country, including in historically marginalized regions.
“This is the fifth administration, and none has brought equity to Kenyans the way President Ruto has. He will be remembered for uniting the country and developing areas that had been neglected for decades,” Kindiki said.
He cited the construction of the Isiolo–Mandera highway, a 750-kilometre project costing KSh100 billion, as a flagship investment that would transform connectivity and economic activity in the region within two years.
Kindiki was accompanied by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, and several regional and national leaders.
