

The National Police Service (NPS) has seized narcotic drugs and a motorcycle used in the trafficking of the substance in Ahero, Kisumu County.
In a statement on X, NPS said the operation began during a routine patrol within the town.
Officers spotted a suspicious motorcycle and signalled the rider to stop for inspection.
However, he sped off towards the Kamindubi area, prompting a chase.
The suspect eventually abandoned his motorcycle and luggage in a bushy area before fleeing on foot.
Upon inspection, police discovered four green sacks containing a substance suspected to be bhang.
Both the motorcycle and the recovered drugs were taken to Ahero Police Station for further investigation.
NPS said an investigation has been launched to identify and arrest the suspect. Police reiterated their commitment to the ongoing fight against narcotics and urged the public to support their efforts by reporting suspicious activities.
“The National Police Service remains committed to the fight against narcotic drugs and urges members of the public to support these operations by sharing timely information through the toll-free number 999,” the notice stated.
The government recently formed a special unit to intensify the crackdown on illicit alcohol and drugs across the country.
Once arrested, the suspect will face charges related to drug trafficking, which carries stiff penalties under Kenyan law.
