The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced a major milestone in its operations with the publication of its Annual Procurement Plan on the Government of Kenya’s Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) system.

The announcement was made on October 2, 2025, in Nairobi, marking what KAA describes as a significant step in aligning with the government’s ongoing digital transformation agenda and the presidential directive for the full rollout of the e-GP platform.

According to KAA, the adoption of the e-GP system digitises the entire procurement process, enabling a paperless and transparent workflow from planning to contract award.

The authority said the new system enhances accountability and strengthens its commitment to compliance and integrity in service delivery.

KAA’s Acting Managing Director, Dr Mohamud Gedi, emphasised the magnitude of the achievement, citing the scale of the authority’s operations.

“Achieving this was no small feat, considering our operations span 19 directorates and over 147 cost centres. This accomplishment demonstrates our unified dedication to operational excellence across the Authority,” he said.

The Chairman of the KAA Board, Caleb Kositany, praised the move, saying it underscores the authority’s dedication to transparency and efficiency.

“By adopting the e-GP system and publishing our Annual Procurement Plan digitally, we are embracing innovation to improve efficiency and transparency. This system fosters trust and offers our suppliers a streamlined procurement experience,” he stated.

The authority expressed appreciation to the teams involved in ensuring the system’s successful deployment. In particular, KAA thanked its procurement team, led by Mr Vincent Korir, as well as broader internal staff across the institution.

It also acknowledged facilitators from the National Treasury, under the leadership of Mr Jared Onyango, for their resources and expertise.

KAA urged suppliers and service providers to register and familiarise themselves with the e-GP platform. The authority noted that going forward, all procurement transactions with KAA will be conducted exclusively through this system.

The adoption of the e-GP system, according to KAA, reinforces its long-term commitment to government reforms aimed at enhancing transparency, efficiency, and quality service delivery to the Kenyan public.

The system is expected to make procurement activities more accessible, reduce delays, and improve oversight in one of Kenya’s most critical state agencies.

With procurement being a key part of public sector governance, KAA said the change will also build trust among suppliers and contractors, ensuring smoother engagement in its projects.

In its closing remarks, the authority underscored that the new system is central to delivering its mandate in line with the government’s digital agenda.

“Setting our sights high” remains the institution’s tagline, and with this shift to digital procurement, KAA positions itself as a leader in adopting innovation within the transport and infrastructure sector.
