A man has been charged at a Kibera Court for allegedly defiling a 12-year-old girl who disappeared from their home last year.

Fredrick Omondi Ogeno Alias Omosh was charged before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Irene Kahuya. He denied the charges.

The court heard that the accused person committed the offence on diverse dates between December 18, 2023, and January 24, 2024 at Kayole Sub-County within Nairobi County.

The minor went missing while she was at their home in Kibera.

She was later traced to Kayole after a certain woman allegedly rescued her.

The accused person through his lawyer pleaded with the court to release him on a lenient cash bail on the ground that he was not a flight risk.

He urged the court to supply him with all the witness statements and documentary pieces of evidence that the prosecution wanted to rely on during the entire trial.

The magistrate released him on a Sh150,000 bond with the surety of the same amount.

She directed that the matter be mentioned on February 7 for pre-trials and further directions.
