Strathmore University Blades beat Kenyatta University Pirates 74-51 in the Kenya Basketball League match at  Nyayo Stadium gymnasium on Saturday.

KU, who trailed 38-21 at the breather managed to take a 16-11 lead in the last stanza of the game but it was too little, too late.

"Overall, this is only the beginning as I am rebuilding. I have fresh players and it will take some time for them to gel and start playing as a team," noted KU's coach Caleb Osewe.

He added, "We have learned our lessons and we hope to change our approach to this league."

Robert Odhiambo scored 15 points and Kennedy Dwalo added 10 for Blades who were stunned 64-54 by Umoja in the Friday night game.

Umoja were led by Douglas Kitavi, who registered a game-high of 20 points. Clinton Ligondo had 12 and Julius Athiambo 11.

"We just did not play as a team. We were very casual in our plays. It is good that this result came during our third match and it was a wake-up call," offered Blades coach Tony Ochieng.

It was a sad outing for the Thika Road varsity side as their women's team were humiliated 101-11 by Zetech University Sparks.

In the lower division matches played at United States International University (USIU) courts, Moischers humiliated Feba 103 -49 in a one-sided game.

Strathmore University Swords were all over Multi-Media University MMU), thrashing them 80-31 in another game.

Neosasa beat National Bank of Kenya 58-54 but they lost 83-60 to Zetech University Titans while Creek defeated Hope 55-39.

In the ladies' encounter, Safe Spaces were felled 64-60 by Footprints in a tight duel.
