Faith Chemutai expects to put on a good show when she competes at the Annual Myshujaa Golf tournament at the par 72 Kakamega Golf Club lon Saturday.
Chemutai is buoyed by a top-ten finish at the Nandi Shield tournament played over the weekend at her Nandi Bears backyard.
“I want to improve myself on the course. Being the only lady at last weekend's tournament was not easy if you compare my scores with the rest,” said Chemutai.
At Nandi Bears, Chemutai carded +16 234 to finish joint 10th with Royal Club’s Kevin Juma in a tournament won by Kenya Railways John Lejirma.
“The good results from Nandi made me strong heading to Kakamega, where I want to make a difference,” said Chemutai, who was the only lady to make the cut at Nandi Bears after Lydia Jebichii fell by the wayside.
Over 150 golfers drawn from various clubs across the western region are expected at this weekend's tournament to mark Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The organisers, led by Julius Oketch, said they are ready to host the large number of players since they have done it before.
Oketch said clubs expected at the tournament are Nandi Bears, Eldoret, Kitale, Nyanza and Kisii.
“The tournament has been growing every year and we expect a better event this weekend especially considering the number of players expected and prizes to be won,” added Oketch.
