Former Eldoret Golf Club Lady captains Catherine Gatua and Moni Sagoo will be seeking more points at the Kenya Ladies Open Western region golf circuit starting this morning at the Kericho Golf Club.
In one of the most congested calendars, the duo will be chasing titles in the western circuit, where six meetings will be played six days ahead of Golfer of the Year (GOTY) Ladies Open in Eldoret on Sunday.
Gatua, who served as the Eldoret Lady captain, said she will be competing in all the six legs starting in Kericho today, Nyanza tomorrow, Kakamega (Wednesday), Nandi Bears (Thursday), Kitale (Friday), the rest on Saturday before Sunday’s Goty event.
“This is a marathon and we must ensure we give it our best shot to secure good results. I want to ensure I play in all the meetings,” said Gatua.
Playing off handicap 21, she revealed that she has had good training at Eldoret Golf Club alongside Sagoo as a way of sharpening her skills for the marathon series.
“I am well prepared for the series and I am sure of better results,” added Gatua.
As per yesterday, the Kericho event has attracted over 100 golfers from across the country and more were expected to join the draw.
“We have so far had 105 lady golfers for the Kericho event, meaning we shall be more than that with the late entries expected,” she added.
