SportPesa Premier League giants Tusker FC have bolstered their attack ahead of the 2026/27 season after signing prolific Nigerian striker Victor Mbaoma on a one-year deal.

The 29-year-old becomes the Brewers’ first signing of the transfer window, arriving from Nigerian Premier Football League champions Remo Stars after an impressive campaign in which he finished as the league’s top scorer with 14 goals and four assists.

Mbaoma brings vast experience to Ruaraka and will be returning to East Africa after a successful spell with APR of Rwanda, where he also claimed the league’s Golden Boot with 15 goals.

Expressing his delight after sealing the move, Mbaoma said Tusker’s vision and winning tradition convinced him to join the club. “I am really delighted to be joining Tusker FC. The coach and the management presented the club’s project to me, and I was attracted to it,” he said.

“I have also gone back to look at the history of the team, and this is a winning side. The team has an ambition to not only do well locally but also in continental football, and that was a big attraction for me.”

Head coach Julien Mette welcomed the forward, describing him as a player capable of making an immediate impact. “I am glad to welcome Victor to the team as our first signing. He is an experienced player whom I know very well, and I am sure we will make great success together,” said Mette.

Mette officially unveiled Mbaoma alongside Tusker chairman Charles Gacheru. The striker is no stranger to the French tactician, having first caught Mette’s attention during his time in Rwanda when the coach was in charge of rivals Rayon Sports while Mbaoma played for APR.

“We shared a home stadium with Rayon, and the coach saw me frequently. I am sure he saw a trait in me that will fit his team. I also know him well from my time in Rwanda. He is very passionate and wants his team always to win, and I love the energy he puts into his work. He usually transmits this energy to his players,” Mbaoma said.

The experienced forward believes his previous success in African club competitions will help Tusker achieve their continental ambitions.

“I have qualified for the group stages of the Confederation Cup and the Champions League more than once, and I know what these kinds of games require. I am determined to help the team achieve such a feat because the coach impressed on me that the team wants to qualify for the group stages,” he added.
