Team Kenya were crowned champions of the DahabPlus Community Football Tournament after edging Team Yemen 2–1 in a thrilling final played at the Ali Gadle Stadium in Hargeisa over the weekend.
The Kenyans, who had battled past Uganda in a tense semi-final, showed resilience and composure in the final to lift the trophy in the competition that brought together players from 15 countries residing in Somaliland’s capital.
Among the nations represented were hosts Somaliland, Uganda, Sudan, Djibouti, and Ethiopia, as the event lived up to its spirit of fostering unity and sportsmanship among diverse communities.
Sponsored by Dahabshiil Group through its innovative digital financial platform DahabPlus, the tournament highlighted the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting youth initiatives and community development across the region.
