Tusker head coach Robert Matano is over the moon after his charges beat KCB 2-0 to go third on the Kenyan Premier League log at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos on Sunday.

The much-touted encounter lived up to its hype with both sides entertaining the stands with spectacular inroads in each other's territory.

Chrispine Erambo and John Njuguna's strikes in the 67th and 80th minutes respectively made all the difference at the full-time whistle.

"I'm glad our patience, hard work and determination are gradually bearing fruits. I'm happy with the string of positive results we've managed in our recent outings," Matano stated.

"We are going for the title. I don't see any team standing in our way. All we need is to maintain the winning momentum," he added.

Matano's opposite number at KCB Benard Mwalala said they experienced a bad day in the office. "I must say we gave a good account of ourselves in the match only that we were not fortunate enough. Remember Tusker came to this match on the back of a five-match unbeaten run, so we were up against a team that is at its peak this season," Mwalala remarked.

"What I noted is that we need to sharpen our striking force a lot more so that we can be clinical in front of the goal. I guess the scoreline could have read differently if we had made good use of the scoring opportunities we created in the game," he added.

The outcome saw Tusker go third with 37 points, while KCB have slumped down to 10th after amassing 29 points in the competition thus far.

In another scintillating encounter, Sofapaka rallied from behind to share the spoils with Muhoroni Youth in a four-goal thriller.

Both sides concluded the encounter with 10 men after  Jacob Onyango (Sofapaka) and Clinton Bulimo (Muhoroni Youth) were sent off in 86th.

Alex Onchwari fired Muhoroni ahead with a splendid strike in the 38th minute but Jacob Onyango latched onto Darius Msagha's pass to level the terms a minute after the breather.

Onyango proved to be the toast for his side again when he fired them into the lead with a superb 55th-minute effort only for Jackson Green to ruin the party with a 67th-minute equaliser.

Elsewhere, Johnmark Makwatta announced his arrival at Kariobangi Sharks in style after netting a goal to salvage a point for the side against Talanta at the Police Sacco stadium in Nairobi's South C.

Alex Juma netted in the 41st minute to fire Talanta ahead before Makwatta drew his side level with his late effort.
