Luanda Villa chief executive officer Steve Munala is optimistic that newly-signed players will rise to the occasion when the team make their debut in the National Super League this weekend.
Villa signed eight players after they were promoted to the second tier league and will open their NSL campaign against an experienced Mombasa Elites side at Mumboha grounds in Vihiga county on Sunday.
“We have had proper preparations as we head our NSL opener. We have signed eight players who we believe will rise to the occasion in the second-tier league. We have built that confidence that we shall play the best football in the country,” said Munala.
Munala said they will join hands with stakeholders and wellwishers to drive the community-based side, especially in honouring away matches.
“Away matches are tricky for us and we shall work with friends to ensure that we honour all of them. Our supporters are the best and we are certain that they will give us the much-needed support,” he added.
He added that they will be looking for sponsors to ensure financial stability for the whole season.
“Finances remain a critical point in our team since it is a community club. We are looking forward to having sponsors on board to support this great team,” he said.
