An investigation commissioned by the family of the late politician Simeon Nyachae has revealed that a woman named herself after him to make it appear she is a bonafide wife to the former head of civil service.
Part of an investigation conducted between May 5, 2022, and February 15, 2023, and commissioned by the Nyachae family said Margaret Kerubo Chweya changed her name to Margaret Chweya Nyachae.
This comes even as the same probe established that the woman was allegedly married to four husbands.
This took place in 2021 before a US court Judge Ovilia Rosales.
It further claimed that Chweya's son, allegedly sired with one of the four husbands Michael Pondo Migowa, also changed his name.
John Paul Chweya is said to have adopted the name John Paul Chweya Nyandusi Nyachae on February 4, 2022.
The document said she appeared before the Superior Court of California, Los Angeles where she changed her name.
The document is already in the High Court.
Nyachae's estate executors Charles, Angela and Eric Nyachae hired a private investigator on Chweya after she alleged that she was married to Nyachae in1 1973 and had three children with him.
One of the late minister's wives, Martha Mwango said she was not aware of any marriage contract between her husband and Chweya.
"I categorically state that the first applicant here-in Margaret Kerubo Chweya was, as far as I know, not a wife to Hon Simeon Nyachae," her affidavit reads as reported by the Standard on June 29, 2023.
"I verily believe that having been married to my husband- the late Hon Simeon Nyachae for 64 years, I would be in a position to know the wives he was married to."
Nyachae had five wives including Mwango, Grace Wamuyu, Slyvia Nyokabi (divorced), Esther Nyaboke and the late Drusilla Kemunto.
Chweya however maintained her claims adding that the former Cabinet minister relocated her and her children to the US to avoid marital issues with his other wife.
She said she was faithful to the man.
"My children have grown up knowing Nyachae as their father and they have never considered anyone else as their father apart from Nyachae," she said.
"Simeon Nyachae was the one who ensured I and the children never lacked anything as he provided for us."
