Kibera Soccer Ladies coach Ramadhan Vijago believes securing promotion back to the Kenya Women's Premier League will help the team secure sponsorship.
Kibera, who were relegated in the 2020 season, currently top the Division One Zone 'A' League with 40 points from 17 matches.
The Slam girls have only lost once in the 15-team league and are favorites to be promoted even though there are still 11 matches to be played.
"The only way we can get sponsorship is by ensuring that we achieve our target of playing in the top-tier next season. This milestone will help us source for sponsorship," Vijago said.
Kibera defied the odds to bag bronze in the Football Kenya Federation Women's Cup after beating Kisumu All-Starlets 4-2 in the third-place playoff match at Nyayo Stadium, last weekend.
Vijago said they will be forced to revamp the squad in order to have a competitive edge in the Premier League. He highlighted the goalkeeping department as a matter of concern while the team will also target defensive reinforcements.
"We leaked some easy goals and we are aware that we need a busy summer to get our act together. We need at least six new players. Fullbacks, midfielders and a striker will make us a better team. We need bench power too to maintain the top-flight status," he added.
"Nothing comes easy, everyone wants to be associated with success and winning is the only way. We are on course but we can't afford to get carried at this stage," he finalised.
