Motorist were on Friday evening stranded at Ahero due to a traffic jam that lasted for several hours.
County Traffic Boss Mwangi Ng'ang'a said the gridlock was caused after a trailer stalled at a bridge and blocked the road.
He said motorists started overlapping, worsening the situation leading to the mess.
"It's been hectic for us from 6pm we have being stuck in this jam," a motorist who was travelling to Kisumu said.
Mwangi said the trailer has since been removed from the road and they are currently trying to control the situation despite motorists being impatient.
