Kibera Black Stars’ promotion hopes suffered a major blow following a barren draw with Vihiga United in a midweek National Super League match played at Ligi Ndogo grounds in Nairobi.

Black Stars, who fell 2-1 to Mombasa Elite on Friday, could not crack open a depleted but resilient Vihiga side, who did even have players on the substitutes bench. Vihiga United goalkeeper Anthony Obonyo was the standout player in the game.

At Awendo Green Stadium in Migori, Gusii FC continued with their impressive form after edging SS Assad 3-0.

Hamisi Hadi grabbed a brace with Kevin Elengwa also on the score sheet. Gusii finished the game with 10 men after Emmanuel Omwenga was sent off in added time.

Yatta-based Mully Children’s Family (MCF) edged visiting Kisumu All Stars 1-0 at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos. Lewis Wambugu struck in the 24th minute.

 Migori Youth beat Silibwet 2-1 at Migori Stadium to leapfrog Kibera Black Stars to fifth on 30 points. Yusuf Ochieng’ and Mark Ochieng’ were on target for the hosts while Akwachi Alvin scored for Silibwet.

Kajiado FC beat Darajani Gogo 4-3 at Camp Toyoyo grounds to ease their relegation woes.

 Fredrick Mutinda, Kelvin Senya and Otieno Vincent scored for Gogo while Abdrahaman Bwanashuter, Seth Omondi, Abdulkadir Wangai and Enock Ouma were on target for the winners.

It’s a second consecutive loss for Pius Aringa’s charges who lost 3-0 against Kisumu All Stars on Friday.

On Thursday, leaders Shabana will host Mombasa Elite at Gusii Stadium hoping to end a two-game winless run.
