Vihiga Queens get Sh500,000 boost from former PM Raila

This comes exactly a day after the side received Sh200,000 from ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

Newly crowned Cecafa champions Vihiga Queens have received Sh500,000 from former Prime Minister,  Raila Odinga.

The cash was presented to the team management by ODM secretary general, Edwin Sifuna.

This comes exactly a day after the side received Sh200,000 from ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi. They are also expecting a further Sh1 million from Governor Wilber Ottichilo who pledged to reward them if they clinched the regional title.

Sifuna said Raila will also host the team at his Karen home before they head to Egypt for the Caf Women's Champion League.

In Egypt, Queens are set to lock horns with AS FAR  (Morocco), AS Mand’e (Mali), Hasaacas Ladies (Ghana), Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), River Angels (Nigeria), Wadi Delga (Egypt) and Maloba Ladies (Equatorial Guinea).

Speaking to the Star, team captain  Enez Mango said time was ripe for them to showcase their talent on the continental stage.

“We are now going back to training and we are going to do our best in the Caf tournament,” Mango said.

Mango made the remarks at a hotel in Hamisi sub-county, where they were hosted by ANC Nominated MP Godfrey Ososti and ODM Secretary Edwin Sifuna. Ososti promised to cater for the team's travel to Egypt.

“We will facilitate within our capacity to ensure you represent Kenya in the Caf tournament in Egypt in November,” Osotsi said.
